Our Story

Black Harvest Capital LLC was founded on a simple question: What value still exists where others stopped looking?

That question led to McDowell County, West Virginia — one of America's most economically distressed regions — and to a six-story classical revival bank building that has stood in Welch since 1921. More than a vacant structure, it represented legacy, resilience, and untapped potential waiting to be restored with purpose.

Black Harvest Capital operates through multiple subsidiaries and strategic initiatives, creating enduring value for communities, industries, and future generations.

Whether restoring historic architecture, managing rural land resources, or building specialized professional service platforms, Black Harvest Capital exists to preserve legacy, create opportunity, and harvest value from hidden potential.

Black Harvest Capital serves as the parent holding company for all project entities, including 1 Bank Street Welch, AML Helpdesk, and Black Harvest Farms.

Our Approach

How We Build
Lasting Value

  • Identify Distressed Anchors

We target historic anchor buildings in ARC-designated distressed communities — properties with irreplaceable character and outsized community impact potential.

  • Structure the Tax Credit Transaction

Federal (20%) and WV State (20%) Historic Tax Credits provide up to 40% of Qualified Rehabilitation Expenditures via a qualified investor partnership.

  • Layer Public Funding

ARC grants, USDA Rural Development financing, WV SHPO development grants, and CDBG funds are stacked alongside tax credits to reduce capital requirements.

  • Anchor with Public and Private Tenants

Public and Private office and retail tenants to provide stable, long-term lease income that supports debt service and proves the project's economic viability to the community.
